Germany Product Safety Commission (AfPS) has published an updated version of the specification AfPS GS 2019:01 PAK (PAH) (Date of issue: 10 April 2020) for GS Mark certification.

This updated version clarified the scope of materials under Category 1, which now applies to:

(2) Materials coming into long-term contact with skin (more than 30s) during the intended use

- in toys according to Directive 2009/48/EC (Toy Safety Directive) or

- for the use by children up to 3 years of age

Other clauses (e.g. test method, valid date) in AfPS GS 2019:01 PAK (Date of issue: 10 April 2020) were not changed compared to the previous version issued on 15 May 2019.

AfPS GS 2019:01 PAK (PAH) is mandatory from 1 July 2020 onwards (date of issuing the GS mark certificate). The AfPS GS 2014:01 PAK will be invalid after 30 June 2020.
